On Sunday, I was invited by Rik/his mom to the Grand Gallery at the Ritz Carlton for a hi tea invitation in the ocassion of the Commonwealth Games Queen's Baton Relay here in Singapore.
There was a bunch of Indian ladies wearing nice sarees at the Grand Gallery and they seem to be chitchatting. I think they are the rich tai tais. As I walked past them, I overheard one of the ladies conversation. "My son is 21 this year and he is studying law......"
Then it was time to welcome His Excellency (That's how the people there address him and he is from India). I was still munching on the delicious crunchy potato chips when he arrived. So I quickly stuffed it in and looked at him with a full mouth when he walked past. Damn paiseh.
Finally another person arrived with the Queen's Baton in his hands as he walked through the Grand Gallery. Everyone started clapping and so I did the same. We had thought the top of the Baton was supposed to have fire but we were wrong. In fact, the Baton was a high tech one. It has in built camera, and a GPS system that can capture smses. After listening to the speech, I then realised that this Queen's Baton Relay started out last year in October starting from London, and it will travel through 70 countries with the last stop being in India. And it is expected to end by Oct 2010 this year. Cool!
Hi-tea started. But the food was a little disappointing though. Anyway, the potato chips rocks!
After that, had dinner with Rik's relatives at Pho Hoa. Due to some reasons which I am lazy to explain here, the whole meal was free of charge. Hanged around and then they went to Starbucks to have some chit chatting session. I suddenly feel that kids are cute!
Anyway, the main point is apparently, someone felt that I am materialistic.. Well.. I dont feel like explaining this anymore.
