Hey! I just landed in SG 19 hours ago and after a whole day of rest to make up for my loss of sleeping time over at Phuket, I am back here to blog about my entire trip - from Day 1 all the way to Day 4! Heavy photos ahead! Sorry if the photos looked a little grainy. I am too lazy to resize it so I just upload it here and size it from here, which explains the graininess! This post is very long so I have put up a hyperlink at the end of this post for you to continue reading.
Boy just managed to upload the photos to his laptop and there was over 1000 photos taken! Mad lots I have to spend quite some time looking through it. Loads of memories and I am starting to miss it there. :(
So on Day 1 itself, our flight is at 0820 in the morning and I had to get up by 5am and then cabbed down with boy to Changi airport at 0615. Not feeling much of an enthusiasm that morning though, maybe because I am so afraid of taking airplanes. I have this phobia because I feel that I do not have any control over my life anymore and anything can happen. I even cried when the plane was on high speed at the runway and about to take off! Come to think of it I felt so stupid. Lol.
Waiting to board the plane!
Above the clouds and boy filling up the immigration form to Thailand
After crying. LOL.
Sian look on his face.
The flight was approximately 1 hour 35 minutes long and at 0930 Phuket time, we landed at the Phuket International Airport! Got out of the arrival gate and met up with our agent - Tony before heading over to hotel. In between the journey, we stopped at 2 places for some shopping. One is a local products shop while the other a T-Shirt factory. We got some local products to munch on and had couple shirts for us. The design on the t-shirt was mad cute and unique that almost everyone took notice of it while we were walking on the streets of the night market at Patong! The design on the T-shirt is definitely not suitable for those under 21. Lol. I'll snap a photo of it when I have the time! :)
At the local products store
Along the way, you can actually see lots of run-down houses, roadside stalls etc.
Finally after an hour of car ride, we finally reached our hotel - Patong Beach Hotel! I am very excited for the fact that we have booked the right hotel. Because our hotel is just right smacked in the middle of the Patong Night Market, very very convenient. We just had to walk down and there we are, the famous Patong Night Market with the discos and pubs etc. I was telling boy that luckily we had chosen this hotel, because along the way we have seen some other hotels that are so remote and nowhere near to the night market nor any beaches. Our hotel has a beach right in front of it! :)
The room was awesome. Very beautiful and comfy! And imagine our excitement when we saw that the bathroom is actually a can-see-through! Worth it for a SGD145 per night!
There he is playing around.
So we took a little bit of rest, had a bath and then headed down to look around at the night market.
All ready to go down!
At the hotel lobby we met these 2 ladies who are selling tickets for island trips at the booth. I was the active one doing all the bargaining and so in the end, we got ourselves 2 island trips for 2 days - Phi Phi Island and Phang Nga Bay Sea Canoeing. On top of that, we also got tickets for the famous Simon Cabaret Show which I will talk more about it later on in this post. The deal we got - Phi Phi Island for 1500 Baht (SGD62.50/pax) and Phang Nga Bay Sea Canoeing for 1800 Baht (SGD75/pax). Not cheap though but we thought it might be better to spend a little more to book the trips here in the hotel rather than outside since we can trust the hotel more. We got the VIP seats for Simon Cabaret Show for 800 Baht (SGD33/pax).
After bargaining and waiting for the ladies to issue us with receipts :)
Thats our hotel with Patong beach right in front!
The streets where they are all lined with shops selling cheap stuffs.
The weather was scorching hot and typically for me I cannot stand such weather. Dragged boy into a restaurant to enjoy some food and drinks.
Feeling much better!
Th Bangla Lane is very famous for lady boys during the night. When night falls, this whole lane is filled with a lot of caucasians and lady boys and they will try to get you in their pubs to watch some live XXX shows or ping pong shows by lady boys. I shall not elaborate fully what is ping pong shows here but a little information - it involves inserting a ping pong ball into something. This street is very very happening at night and it is fully lined with pubs and discos. Boy and I tried walking across this lane one night and I almost a phobia for it since then. There are at least 20 to 30 people trying to get us watch the shows. Oh myy.
Th Bangla Lane
Headed over to Jung Ceylon Shopping Complex with the air con!
Decided to do foot massage which costs us 250 Baht (SGD10.50/pax) for 1 hour! Cheap!
Super comfy!
Tuk Tuks everywhere
And then the Simon Cabaret show at night! Because we had the VIP seats, we did not have to queue. Simon Cabaret show is a theatre show featuring all the lady boys. It is really amazing how they managed to have such perfect body. And I must say, some are really very pretty!
Excited!
Boy said my camera skills is lousy because I cut away half of the figurine. LOL!
The lady boys trying to get people to take photos with them before and after the show. But be careful, they expect money in return - 100 Baht (SGD4). If you did not pay them, a man in black shirt will come and talk to you.
Yes that is how all of them wear.. with Lady Gaga, the most daring outfit of them all!
I think this lady boy is really pretty. I would even have mistaken her for a real lady!
Then we set off for dinner. Settled down for this Thai restaurant near our hotel - Nong Nan Seafood. Both the exterior and interior don't look appealing but the food was great! Boy and I had so much praises for it.
Eagerly waiting for our food :)
We had green curry with chicken, fried morning glory with oyster sauce and fried squid in curry powder, fresh mango juice as well as ice lemon tea. Guess how much the bill adds up to? 380 Baht, equivalent to SGD15 only!
We then headed back to the hotel for early night rest as boy wanted us to be fresh for the island trip next day, which will be very early!
I will continue blogging about Phuket Days 2 to 4 soon! :)
