Manicure & Date!

On Friday I had my appointment with Shanice once again for manicure. This time round I told her I do not want any nail arts or bright colors because I want to go corporate, for work this Monday!

So this time round I chose Nude Biege! Boo to my short stubby fingers but I love this new color. :)

I opted for AM mail for my apparel from Kristineyunny so that I can get it the next day I make my payment. Received the item in my letterbox before 11am and I was super excited about this Trenchcoat Dress in Ciel. I figured I had quite a lot of black dresses so I chose this in Ciel, lighter grey version! I seldom purchase from online blogshops because my figure shape does not suit every cutting but most of the time it is the sizing. Kristineyunny's dresses are made in a range of sizes and I am glad the size and cutting for this dress fits me just nice! Here replies were very prompt and this is very important to me. Looking forward to purchasing from her again in future.

Suitable for work when paired with my almost 4 inch heels!

----------------------

There was supposed to be a graduation photoshoot with my JC mates around town area and Sentosa today but it was postponed last minute because Si Xuan sprained her ankle quite badly during her training in Tekong. Anyway I really admire this girl's courage in signing on to the Army! :)

Boy's appointment was also cancelled coincidentally and therefore we had time for each other today. Went down to Cityhall to pass a textbook to someone and then walked over to Bugis where we shopped around.

Had Frolick on the way and we were sitting there watching passer-bys, and calculating how much profit Frolick earns per month etc while we were waiting to catch a movie in the evening. That is how stupid our conversations can be lol!

After movie/dinner we walked over to SMU building to have our snacks. We bought peas and nuts and I thought what we lacked was 2 cans of beers! Quite a laid back Saturday.

Had my lenses removed as it is getting dry!

Anyway, I had my eyebrow trimmed at a salon one day. To my surprise, theirs was threading! I got a shock when I sensed a sharp pain initially, opened my eyes to see the lady using threads to trim my eyebrows. The pain was much more than the conventional method of plucking and I could sense my tears welling up in behind my eyelids. Lol. But it was a good experience though as I heard that the eyebrow will not grow as fast if threading is used! :)

Seriously I am quite scared of my first day of work. -.-

Infatuated with wedges!

I don't know since when I started falling in love with wedges. They are stable, and most importantly doesn't hurt even though it is at a killer height! What is more important than having a pair of comfortable shoes?

So I started to browse online to see if there are any good deals, other than Forever 21. Forever 21 online site has become too common and they do not have any new series that caught my sight though! Then I chanced upon Dorothy Perkins and they are having sale on certain items! On top of that, there is an additional 20% off all sale items. How great right!

My favorite picks! :)

12 pounds with an additional 20% off = 9.60 pounds only!
16 pounds!

These wedges are my favorites of the lot! :)

16 pounds!

13.60 pounds!

These pair of heels all priced at SGD19 to SGD32 only, from Dorothy Perkins. Mad worth it right!

But the only thing is I am unsure if they ship over to Singapore, though they mentioned they ship internationally. I have just sent an email query to them so hopefully they do! :)

The last of LaFemmeDaBelle :)

I have just mailed out the last batch of parcels at the post box - the last of LaFemmeDaBelle. Though I may feel a tinge of reluctance, but what I felt more was a sense of relief. Through this 1 year plus of experience, I have lost a lot, but gained a lot more in return. These can never be bought with money. Lessons learnt, lessons gained. I would say, invaluable!

So I first started out with a great interest in opening my own blogshop, thinking that it is so easy. But I was wrong. It involves far more than just selling and collecting money. I never knew small little nit-pick details are important until I am really in it. And all the more I never knew that I would require a capital of at least $4k to $5k to start a blogshop. Like any other people, I procrastinate for quite a long while before I decided to start operations.

I may miss stuffs like such..

Designing and drawing out to my manufacturer!

Invoicing. And I always feel very happy when I see many new emails popping up (more orders!)

Getting ready the envelopes

And stamps.

And finally wrapping the apparels nicely in OPP bags. As well as customized small little notes to my customers.

It might be a pity to give up what I really love but I believe this is for the better. :)

My only formal wear to work and interviews.

I recently patronized a few blogshops for work wear and I am beginning to be addicted to it! $32 or $35 for a piece of boutique standard work wear is much more affordable as compared to physical shops in town or shopping centres! Now I know why there is a market for online blogshop selling workwears. The only thing is that it would  be much better to have a physical shop so that we can try the apparels out before deciding. Lol!

I have been frequenting Dressabelle, Allthingslovely and Kristineyunny these days. Kristineyunny being at the top of my list now because their apparels are manufactured and most importantly, there's a range of sizes!

Am eagerly waiting for my loots now! :)

Weekly date!

Weekends are always boyfriend's days for me. Saturdays out to town and Sundays at his place. I wanted to go shopping to buy some workwear so we went town! Clad in my newly received maxi dress from Intoxiquette. :)

I had always thought that work wear is easy to find and a piece of dress will not cost more than $60. But I was wrong! We spent quite some time walking around, trying on a few pieces before deciding on getting 2 dresses, and bill totalled up to $188. I do not exactly have a good figure so it is actually quite hard for me to find dresses that are fitting. But lucky me, the sales girl at Isetan was really good at recommending me workwears that fit me just nice! :)

After which, we caught a movie at Cineleisure - Horrible Bosses. Super funny! Had Almond Milk Tea at this shop called Artease in Cineleisure. They gave us mini pearls when we asked for the normal sized ones. Not very fantastic though!

Comex is coming this September! I have decided on the Nikon P300 instead of the Canon S95. Better zoom and video functions, launched recently but priced almost the same as the S95! I have heard that Lumix is good too but because I must admit that I am not very technical savvy, this one would suit me better. :D

I have had another 2 more interviews coming up, with which one of them is a really good job role in commodities trading. Even boy told me he might want to consider applying for it too. But I am not confident I can meet their requirements so I have decided to withdraw from the interviews. Looking forward to work next Monday!

How can I survive 7.30am work time!

Anyway, boy was telling me about this ridiculous thing that happened here in Singapore.

Here's a summary of the whole recount.

A family, who had just moved here from China, had resorted to mediation because they could not stand the smell of curry that their Singaporean Indian neighbours would often cook. The Indian family, who were mindful of their neighbour's aversion, had already taken to closing their doors and windows whenever they cooked the dish, but this was not enough.

"They said: 'Can you please do something? Can you don't cook curry? Can you don't eat curry?'," said Madam Marcellina Giam, a Community Mediation Centre mediator. But the Indian family stood firm. In the end, Mdm Giam got the Indian family to agree to cook curry only when the Chinese family was not home. In return, they wanted their Chinese neighbours to at least give their dish a try.

So, the citizens from China staying on our land telling us Singaporean citizens not to cook and eat curry? How funny. And ridiculous.

This has stirred up a big commotion and a facebook event has even been created. The event was named "Cook A Pot of Curry!" to celebrate Curries as part of our way of life and to share this celebration who are new to our shores! Both boy and I have attended! :) What about you?

A week's long of post

Hello! Some are asking me where have I gone to and why am I not updating my blog posts anymore. Haha actually I try to keep it a point to blog down random musings almost every other day but sometimes you know, procrastinating.

Basically I have been really busy searching for jobs and going for interviews. Like what boy told me - it is easy to find a job in Singapore, but not easy to find something you really like. Indeed this is really true! But I must say both boy and I fortunate enough that we have a job that we like. :) I was so afraid of the financial market these days that I will not be able to find a job!

Yes so anyway, I have had some job offers for this past week and I took quite some time to go through all my options before deciding on one. I have had a hard time in between because while I was waiting for an offer by my first choice employer, I had another job offer and had to decide within a very short time frame. In the end I rejected the offer because I really would want to be employed by my first choice employer. And lucky me, I got it! No words can explain the excitement I had when the HR called me in the morning and told me the personal details of the job offer. Nothing to consider about, and the next day I went down to sign the appointment letter! Embarking on my career! :)

And boy being a very ego-istic man told me that he will find another girl if I earn more than him. Lol!

So just last Friday, I met up with Fumin for dinner at Holland Village! It was a last minute thing but we have had fun chatting!

Fumin!

Sent her back home because it was already past 11 by then and she had work the next day!

Attend the National Day Gala Dinner one saturday, with Minister Khaw Boon Wan and Dr Tony Tan as the VIP. Minister Khaw gave a speech regarding the almost-crazy property prices and I really hope the government reviews it really soon! The food was okay only and so we weren't really full after the whole episode. We drove down to Upper Thomson to have prata after that!

HDB prices are crazy nowadays. Boy was telling me today that we are just a few hundreds away from the $10k income ceiling now and this is getting really urgent for us. But judging from the high prices of HDB now, he told me that it will be more reasonable to get an executive condo. I leave all the planning to him since I am quite a noob in all these. Lol!

Anyway, we do not really have an anniversary date but for easy remembrance sake I set it on 9th August itself. We do not celebrate anniversaries too because he does not believe in all this. I will nag at him regarding this and often a time he will just smile. But yes, I understand where the rationale comes from. :)

4th year and still going! <3

Gelish, yet again!

This is my dont-know-how-many times of gelish manicure I have done and I cannot describe how much I am in love with it! So I made an appointment with Shanice again for my manicure right after I have done my facial at Kalo's.

I am the kind of person who does not like changes, because I am afraid that I will not be used to it or the effect will turn out bad. I have always chosen pink for my manicure but this time round I decided to try something new - Red! Bright red! Shanice was nice enough to offer me a free acrylic ribbon but I told her to give me polka dots instead because I am not the most gentle lady on earth and I am afraid the ribbon will drop after a while.

I do have have exactly perfect, pretty fingers and nails because I was once a nail biter. Therefore my nail bed is very short and stubby. But I have since curbed the habit! :)

Shanice has just obtained her certificate and just started her own home-based nail salon. Though with not much experience and there could be times whereby she did not tip the polka dots properly and had to redo it again, but what made me vist her time and again is because of her friendliness and great service!

The price is also very affordable for her gelish and I even told her that I will be coming down for more of these! :)

By the way, I have finally had my own Twitter account! I know I am slow!

NTU Convocation!

26th July 2011 officially marks the end of my academic life. After having spent 23 years of my youth in education, I have graduated! I made my parents proud and I know they have been waiting for this day ever since I stepped into the university.

Daddy & Mummy!
Before the start of the convo ceremony.
Then the Dean & Professors arrived.

And we sang the National Anthem.

Soon, it was my turn! I was still What'sApp-ing boy that I am really scared because I have stage fright, since young!

Spot me?

Video!

Our valedictorian made a speech on behalf of the Class of 2011 (Bachelor of Engineering) and requested for all of us to stand up, turn to our parents and give a round of applause to them as well as to ourselves. Standing from where I was, I felt a surge of emotions - Touched. My parents raised me up and brought me to where I am and I am really grateful to all they have done for me! I have not disappointed them! :)

After a long 2 hours, the solemn ceremony ended.

To the reader who requested for a snapshot of the heels I bought, here's the one which I wore to convocation! I chose a simple plain design without any additional stuffs because this is one pair I can go for interviews. :)

In a desperate attempt to change to my pair of slippers because I never got used to wearing heels! Lol.

The graduation bear which boy gave me :)

Then we were all so famished we headed to the buffet corner!

Busy smsing away to brother

Boy met his ex there!

:)
Mechanical Engineering ladies!

Brother came after the whole ceremony because he had meetings to attend! :(

Family shoot.

At Lee Wee Nam Library where I always used to go!

I have made it! :)
